About
Hi, I’m Theo!
I’ve been skating for over 26 years, mostly transition, with a big focus on mini ramps and early grabs.
The Online Skatepark started as a place to build an online community and course but in the process of setting it up, talking to skaters at the park and online, something became really clear:
“There’s a big gap when it comes to adult skateboarding”.
A lot of adults are starting to skate for the first time, or picking it up again after years away. They’re committed and they show up consistently, but many still struggle with the basics - not because they’re not trying hard enough, but because most learning happens through self-teaching, internet advice, and the odd tip here and there, which doesn’t always translate into real progression.
What I thought would be mostly online has now become very local to the Gold Coast.
Why The Online Skatepark Exists
Private lessons are great for some people, but they don’t work for everyone.
A one-hour, one-on-one lesson can feel intense. You have to warm up, focus, perform, and “make it worth it” all within a tight time window. If you’re not feeling great that day, it can feel like wasted money. It can also create a bubble between you and the coach that pulls you away from the rest of the skatepark and the people in it.
Skating is better when it’s shared. When you skate alongside others, learn together, watch different approaches, take breaks, and come back to things in your own time. That’s where it becomes fun - and where progress actually sticks.
The Online Skatepark sessions are built around that idea.
A Different Way to Learn
These sessions aren’t traditional lessons.
They’re longer, open, adults-only sessions where you can:
turn up when it suits you
skate for as long as you like
take breaks when you need them
get guidance when you want it
There’s no pressure to “get a trick” in a set timeframe. The focus is on fundamentals, comfort on the board, and building a base that makes learning new tricks easier over time.
Adults Only, On Purpose
These sessions are for adults only (18+).
Kids’ coaching on the Gold Coast is already well covered by some incredible schools doing great work. This space exists specifically for adults - people who want to skate without feeling rushed, judged, or out of place next to kids who’ve been skating since they were five.
You don’t need to be amazing, but you should be able to roll on a skateboard and ideally drop in or roll down a small bank. If you’re brand new, I run How to Skate Transition workshops that take you from standing on a board through to dropping in, so you can join the open sessions feeling comfortable and confident.
Sessions are focused on transition skating and mini ramps.
Where the “Online” Part Comes In
The Online part of The Online Skatepark is about extending what happens at the park beyond the session itself.
During sessions, I’ll film skaters (with consent) and use that footage to give personalised feedback based on exactly what you’re doing - your body position, timing, approach, and fundamentals. Seeing your own skating makes it much easier to understand what to work on and why something feels difficult.
That footage also becomes a way to track progress over time. Looking back at old clips is one of the best ways to see improvement, especially when progress feels slow day to day.
With permission, session footage is also used online to help others around the world learn from real people - not polished pros or perfect clips, but adults working through the same challenges in real skateparks. This helps shape the online course, community discussions, and learning resources in a way that actually reflects how adults skate and learn.
The Online Skatepark exists to connect in-person skating with ongoing feedback, shared learning, and long-term progression - both locally and online.

My Role as a Coach
I don’t “run” the session - I support it.
I’m there throughout to offer coaching, guidance, and feedback when you need it. I’ll be as hands-on or hands-off as you want:
holding your hand through a trick
offering tips on body position or foot placement
helping you break things down when you’re stuck
This isn’t a one-on-one lesson. I float between people, check in, and make sure everyone has support across the session. If I’m helping someone else, you keep skating, working on your basics, and I’ll come to you.
The goal isn’t just to land one trick - it’s to become more comfortable on your board so everything else comes easier.
More Than Just Skating
Skating gets people outside, moving, and around others - and that matters.
Making friends as an adult isn’t easy. A lot of adults, especially men, struggle to talk about mental health or even just show up consistently somewhere. These sessions are about creating space for people to skate together, share time at the park, and feel part of something without pressure.
You don’t have to be loud. You don’t have to perform. You just have to turn up.
The Vibe
Low pressure.
Adults only.
Community focused.
No egos.
Turn up when you can, leave when you need.
Long-term progression over short-term wins.
If that sounds like your kind of skating, you’re in the right place.
